Product Description

A Pair of 19th Century Chinese Turquoise Porcelain Ormolu Mounted Covered Vases with Dragon Decoration. The vases feature a turquoise glaze with detailed dragon motif, symbolizing power and good fortune. The vases are mounted with French ormolu in the Louis XV style, with intricate rococo elements such as acanthus leaves and scrolls. The ormolu mounts, applied to the rim and base, enhance the vases’ elegance. This pairing of Chinese porcelain and French ormolu reflects the 19th-century trend of blending Eastern and Western artistic traditions. The ormolu mounts frame the porcelain and draw attention to the detailed carvings. Around the bodies of the vases are dragon incised designs under the glaze with the Sgraffito technique. They are absolutely gorgeous and quite unusual. Each vase featured an ormolu mounted cover fixed with a finial.
