A Magnificent and Quite Rare English Asprey Signed Orientalist Motif Masterpiece with Dessert Palm Tree and Parcel-Gilt Silver Camels having Diamond Eyes. Gorgeously constructed in the Islamic taste by the renowned Asprey of London. The rectangular bottom is mounted on a parcel-gilt silver base with hand-carved malachite surmounted on a large piece of hand-carved and hand-polished rock crystal. Attached to the base is a fantastic silver-gilt palm tree with jadeite dates attached to silver-gilt branches. Each palm leaf is silver gilt as well and appears to be life-like in appearance. Hanging off two desert tree-stomps are silver chains which terminate on two solid silver camels with diamond eyes. Each is impressively hand-chased and hand-chiseled with impeccable quality and craftsmanship. The bottom of the hooves of the camels are marked with silver marks as well as other factory and related marks. The side of the base also consists of a 925 silver mark and other mark as well pertaining to the workshop and piece. The corner of the base has a large “Asprey” signature. This piece was most probably produced for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, whom was well known for ordering extravagant objects from Asprey for many years and creating one of the most incredible collections on earth.
